About Us

Dennis “Doc” Pangborn here. I’m the owner of Floating Mountain Arts, an artist, woodworker, and jewelry maker.
I have been a cabinetmaker and artist for decades in the greater Atlanta area until a few years ago, when my wife and I decided to visit her family out here on the Olympic Peninsula.
It didn’t take long for us to realize what an amazing place this would be for us to live, and we are blessed to call Sequim our home now. By the way, if you are wondering how to pronounce that, it’s “Skwim”
Being a wildlife artist, I was overwhelmed with the variety of subjects for new paintings. Having snow capped mountains ten miles to the south with elk, cougar, deer, and amazing views from the peaks; and the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Salish Sea five miles to the north, with all the sea life including orcas, seals and sea lions, ducks, salmon, sea stars, and views of the ever changing water and clouds, is a wonderful place for an artist to live. What struck me most was the vastness of the views.
I have rekindled my passion to paint again, as well as developing a new interest of jewelry making. I joined the Blue Whole Gallery, where I display my artwork. I have started Floating Mountain Arts to display my artwork, both paintings and jewelry.
